Greek American Candy Kitchen
T.G. Hawkins built this structure in the 1880’s. His name still appears in the pressed metal cornice. At this time, it was known as the Iron Front Saloon because it had iron bars on the front windows. In the 1890s, it was Louis Brin’s (Red Front) dry goods store. In 1901, the building housed the Greek – American Candy Kitchen said to be the “most ornate and finest confectionary in the state”. The candy Kitchen was open from 7:am until midnight, 7 days a week.
