Texas Heritage Museum
Texas history comes alive at Texas Heritage Museum. We are an active and successful role in the educational and service missions of Hill College and brings increasing national and international prestige to Hill College. The Texas Heritage Museum is comprised of three divisions: the Galleries & Collection, the Historical Research Center, and the Hill College Press. Furthermore, on the front of the museum grounds is the Home of the Official Texas State Medal of Honor Memorial to Native-Born Texans.
Galleries and Collection
The first division of the Texas Heritage Museum is the Galleries and Collection. Historical artifacts are exhibited from the Texas Republic through the Vietnam War within the museum galleries and collections that serve as tangible evidence of historical events. Considerable thought and research goes into the galleries before they are displayed, and exhibits will continue to change to present fresh topics and perspectives.
Historical Research Center
The second division of the Texas Heritage Museum is the Historical Research Center that aspires to be widely acknowledged by scholars world-wide as one of the nation’s finest collection repositories, bringing international distinction to Hill College by advancing scholarly research and education at the college and beyond. Included in the Historical Research Center is an extensive collection of maps, photographic collections, microfilm, and an archival depository that contains numerous files of soldiers’ letters, diaries, and unpublished manuscripts from all wars. Also featured in the Historical Research Center are original art works, art prints and sculptures depicting the War Between the States, and personal items belonging to Hill College graduate Bob Bullock during his term as Lieutenant Governor of Texas.
Hill College Press
The third division of the Texas Heritage Museum is the Hill College Press, the only academic press at a community college in Texas. Hill College Press publishes works of original and interpretative history that compliment both the mission of the Texas Heritage Museum and the geographical setting of central and north Texas. To date, the press has published 49 books, several of which have won literary and historical awards.
