Historic City Hall – 127/129 East Franklin
The beautiful building now known as City Hall.
This location on 127/129 Franklin in Hillsboro once housed our Police and Fire Station.
The Hillsboro Fire Department was organized in 1883 and at the time, their equipment consisted of a hook and ladder wagon with 36 leather buckets. The men would pull the ladder wagon by hand. However, in the late 1800’s Hillsboro saw the east and south side of downtown destroyed by fires. After the fires the Fire Department began utilizing motorized equipment in the 1900’s.
The footprint of the building has remained consistent throughout history, though there were renovations in the 50’s and again in 2007.
Today, City Hall hosts city council meetings, special community shows, Heritage League meetings, childrens events and is a rent-able venue for public and private events.
Its a beautiful building with a unique history only found in Hillsboro Texas.
